What are dental implants?

Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces tooth roots with metal, screwlike posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function much like real ones. Dental implants are a great alternative whether the patients need just one or multiple teeth replaced. Significant advantages of this procedure include the sturdiness of the implant which also provides the appropriate protection of the supporting bone beneath. The insertion of implants  does not require the filing of other, surrounding healthy teeth to be made. In addition to the artificial tooth this treatment also includes the care and proper therapy to the damaged flesh around it.
